Zola’s American Heritage SDH Featured by Award Magazine

Zola Windows was featured in an article in this month’s Award Magazine, a Canadian publication on architecture, design, and construction. The focus on the article is historic renovations. Florian Speier, a founder and VP at Zola, was asked to discuss balancing high performance with historically sensitive restoration. Double hung windows, which slide in their seals, are very characteristic of many historic buildings.  Zola’s American Heritage SDH, which he describes as “a replica quality tribute to the historic double- hung window,” comes with a progressive twist. “Ours don’t slide. The bottom tilts and turns, and the top is fixed. But the look is 100 per cent there,” says Speier. This unique window has become increasingly popular for historic buildings that don’t want to compromise thermal performance or airtightness, but nonetheless want to leave the building’s aesthetic and heritage in place.
